People who are not so fussy about their shaver will have every reason to uphold this Philips Norelco PT730 for meeting their expectations – close, smooth, fast, silent and reasonably priced. For most people the real test and the determining factor begin as the day progressed and are revealed in the evening. What is remarkable about this shaver is that in the afternoon my face still feels as sleek as though I shaved an hour or so before.
Philips PT730 may not be so great for people with heavy whiskers owing to not so powerful motor as compared to high end shavers. Some whiskers don’t work with marginal motor as we understand. It may also not provide the closest shave, yet shaver that provides the closest, fastest and the most comfortable shave isn’t necessarily the best shaver. To me, it’s all about overall experience. We all have perception and preference with our requirements. This is a very respectable shaver and very reasonably priced.Click here for Discounts at Amazon.
Simple Shaver but Hard to Find any Fault with Philips Norelco PT730
Philips Norelco PT730 or Power-Touch 730 delivers a great shave at a great price and perhaps this is the best deal for your shaving cash. This PT730 is neither fancy nor does it offer bells and whistles. No face hugging feature, no cleaning system, no fancy LED/LCD display screen (except the simple LED to indicate charge time), no scent or artificial intelligent! It is strictly meant to shave your beard real smooth, easy and pleasant. It does give a close shave but not as close as Philip SensoTouch 3D which is 4 times more expensive.
Philips Norelco PT730 is no technological wonder. You won’t get awe by it and certainly not the best shaver out there. If you try it today all you can expect is ‘normal experience’. There is nothing special to blow away your mind. Yet, at the end of the day there is nothing this shaver won’t do that a high-end shaver can. You get a pleasant, comfortable, close and consistent complete shave every day. There is no such area where the shaver fails to tackle. In short, I love this shaver.
Despite the fact that I am foil fan, I know I can rely on this Philips shaver and be satisfied with the result any day. I am not saying this shaver is better than my all time favourite Braun shaver 790cc or the likes, but there is nothing I don’t like about it either.
Just like all their top-end shavers, it includes “Lift and Cut” technology which they reported is capable to cut hairs below skin level for a closer shave. Additionally, the flexing heads reads the contours of our face and adjusts automatically. All these may sound a bit technical but overall it gives you a pleasant and smooth shaving experience. The pop-up trimmer is not just a trimmer that comes along the shaver as I had assumed for that price. It is actually very efficient to work on the sideburns and whiskers.
Electric shavers are cool but I really don’t like them being loud which is not only annoying but also end up waking everyone if you are a morning person. This shaver is really quiet and a great choice for those who are in quest for a quieter shaver.
Norelco PT730 shaver is easily serviceable, and of course it is always cheaper to buy the replacement head than buy a new shaver. Note that the shaver is designed to last many years backed by 2 years warranty. This shaver uses HQ8 triple head replacement which is reasonably priced and easily replaceable. We need to replace the shaving head once a year to get a new like experience again, though this will vary depending on your beard and how often you shave.
Cleaning is super convenient with this shaver. All you need to do is press the button to open the shavers head and clean it under running water or simple brush away the stubble with the cleaning brush included.
I would say nothing impressive with the design, yet this shaver is ergonomically designed, a great travel companion and light weighted. It is very comfortable to hold with good grip.
The one downside I can think of is that while it allows you to shave plugged in, it takes 8 hours to fully charge which could be an issue for convenience sake if you wish to use it cordless most of the time. Anyway, once the battery is fully charged it gives you about 140 minutes of cordless shaving. Moreover, if you are in a hurry and need to go cordless you can use the 3 min quick charge function for a single shave.
Philips is quite confident about the efficiency of their shaver. Prove? They are offering 45-Day Money Back Guarantee! Not bad, I’d say.
What About Philips PT720, AT810 and AT830
The Philips Power Touch series looks very identical with minimal differences. And there are couple of reasons why I choose PT730 over the others. Philips PT720 is $10 cheaper but it means ditching “Lift and Cut” feature and the pop-up trimmer. Those benefits are too dear to forfeit for $10.
If you like wet shaving you can opt for AT810 or AT830 model that features the Aquatec Technology but these two shavers can only be operated on battery power. This is most likely for the safety reasons.
Normally, batteries with any gadgets become less efficient over time and if you plan to stick with a shaver for couple of years this become an issue when the battery is not user replaceable. That being said, AT830 includes smart pivot head that reads the contour of the face better for some individual, especially in the hard to shave areas like the neck. That is a nice added feature if you are ok with the shaver to run only on battery power and pays an extra $20. The rest of the features remain the same as the PT730 model.
If you’re someone who think it’s really unnecessary to pay hefty sum of money for the top-end electric shavers but still desire the functionality of quality shaver, this one is sure to impress you. Basically, everything works well with this shaver for an excellent overall shave and recommended especially for its price.
